I bought a 500ml lens years ago in the days when I had some money, but since buying my wood have not used it.
My set ups are quite close and usually mange with my 300ml and a 50% crop but as I wanted to shoot some birds on newly emerging Blackthorn I decide to blow the dust off it and give it a go getting full frame shots, well nearly.
I arrived at the wood at 8.45 after cutting a few branches of nearby Blackthorn and set up a perch.
The perch was set back 2 feet so I could focus and with birds lining up to get to the feeder managed these shots.
The day started overcast with a few brighter spells later and quite windy which meant high iso at 1600+ to get a 500 – 800 shooting speed to try and combat the wind.
Overall I am quite pleased so think I should keep it out and try some more.
Thanks for reading.
