Over the last week or so I have been building an outdoor kitchen, nothing fancy, just somewhere I and guests can make a hot drink and have a sit.
Now the winter is looming, I thought I ought to get on with it as I sort off planned on making one at some stage.
I took several photos on my phone as a record and wont go into great detail as a photo says a thousand words or so they say, so here goes.
six holes dug for posts a meter apart.

Posts in, a mixture of Larch and Sweet chestnut cut to 2.3 mtrs ish

POSTS IN
Before I had even cut a tree down there was a stack of Larch down the bottom of the wood which had been cut by the previous owner and there was 6 lengths of around 1.2 mtrs so I based the width of each section on these logs so I could use these up in making my kitchen, waste not want not and I got 18 planks, a good start.

Plank cutting

18 Planks cut to 1.2 mtrs

Planks cladded to outside walls and then levelled with chainsaw

Roof supports on

Roof struts finished and ready for tarpaulin roof sheet, used tarp so to allow light in.

Tarpaulin on and 2 post fitted to front to take 800mm cladded boards

Fitted board to top of roof

Fitted rain deflectors to each window and painted with dark oak one coat, not for protection but to blend in with surroundings

Made bench seat to left side and painted

Smaller bench to right side

Fitted new log burner which lifts up so you can use as a grill, But its hot enough with lid down I think to boil water already.
All I have left to do now is make some blinds of sorts to keep out the wind and rain and a small gutter on the back which will run to a barrel for watering the the plants next year
I had ordered another tarp which came today from which I will make the blinds, just simple roll up jobs which I can fix out of the way.
Everything you see wood wise has come from my wood and took quite a while to cut into different sizes and all with a chainsaw, I don’t think I have done too bad.
Tomorrow (Saturday) I am going to pick up 2 of my oldest grands son 6 & 8, who are going to help me finish it,pass me things really, and then we are going to christen it with tea and a bacon sandwiches.
I will post more photos of the finished item soon.

Such a fantastic day at Millers Wood. We were made to feel so welcome. John you have taken woodland bird hides to another level above and beyond anything we have been to before. The day started with coffee in kitchen area, how fantastic was this, the warmth from burner was amazingly good. We then spent couple hours in morning hide. Constant stream of birds which was delightful, then the larger hide, another awesome experience. The water reflection pool was magical the best we have ever seen. Your dedication and time put into this project is looking amazing. The hides for photography are the best ever, great viewing size, height, space and comfort. Can’t wait for next visit…..
Thank you Jackie, your always welcome
