What a weird year its been but finally looks like autumn is here with leafs starting to drop and the nights drawing in.
Bird activity is still great with the first winter flocks of finches arriving and feeding in the treetops, mostly Siskin with the odd Redpoll, hopefully, won’t be long before they are queuing up to have their photos taken.
Last Friday I spent 3 hours in the Siskin hide, put up some perches, put out some food and sat back in the hide to see what would show up.
Long-tailed tits are coming more frequent and gone from 3 to 5 hopefully more joining their flock, last year we had several flocks numbering a dozen or so.
Daytime temps are still good but I am finding the mornings now much cooler and change is in the air.
Nice selection of birds around so why not come and give it a go.
