Just come back from a 2 week break but with Millers wood never far from my mind it was good to be back.
The first task I wanted to achieve was to cut and clear the area I decided would be the butterfly and insect garden, a place where you could walk round at leisure and photograph anything of interest.
You can see that there has been quite a lot of thinning to allow light in and with some Alder buckthorn already ordered for the Brimstone butterflies there is no time to waste.
All the logs are used to create new paths with the idea being if you keep to them you wont squash the bluebell’s and other wild flowers shooting up.
This is how it roughly looks now.

Its now tidier than it looks with paths going right around the area, some might get moved but for now its a start, I can then plant between the paths knowing I wont walk on the newly planted trees & shrubs.
Any comments welcome.
