I felled 1 large larch which was enough to make 17 birds boxes and both the water features so not a bad trade.

Planks cut to 1500mm which is enough to make one box with a bit spare.

Here I have marked out the box with my plastic straight edge leant against the tree and then screwed 2 or 3 planks together so I can cut once and make 2 or 3 sets at a time.

Two of the nearly finished boxes drilled at 28mm for Great tits to occupy, just need to add the rubber hinge and fix the roof.

I then filled the wheelbarrow with 4 or 5 and went round the wood replacing the ones that failed from last year or a new location that I thought would work.

Time will tell if they work this time but I think the design is better and with removing just 2 screws I can clean out during the winter months.
