I had a day out, something I haven’t done in a long time, and not done a lot of photography of late with all the maintenance at the wood but last Wednesday I visited a fox hide. (1-6-22)
It’s run by Jean Rolfe, a really nice friendly lady and all proceeds go to the Donkey sanctuary that she helps run.
It runs from 4 pm till 8 pm usually and a max of two people, but I arrived for a 3 pm start as she was busy in meetings that afternoon and could escort me to the hide early so I finished at 7.
Jean put out some food with a hearty shake which sounded the diner bell for the foxes and by the time I got my camera out there were already foxes appearing.
I saw 5 foxes in total including 2 cubs, and they appeared on and off all afternoon with the cubs play fighting just in front of me on several occasions, absolutely amazing to see their careless play.
Gear wise, I would recommend a zoom, I used a Nikon 200-500 which covered tighter portraits and group shots.
The lighting is great with the sun behind you for the afternoon and the only negative is the seats were very squeaky, not affecting the foxes but for anyone planning on doing some serious video work then I would recommend taking a seat.
Apart from that everything was really fantastic and i must get out more.
Here are some details if anyone fancy’s a visit.

And finally some of the photos I managed that afternoon.
