On Saturday I had help to erect my new donated poly tunnel, which didn’t take to long and even though the ground isn’t 100% level will do me fine.
I am not expecting to grow anything until March but its nice to get it in place and I can tick off that job and get go with something else.
Sunday saw us visiting friends near Bognor Regis and yesterday I had work and got 2 new front tyres ready for my MOT on Friday, so today was my first visit for a couple of days.
My first job today is to start sinking posts, these I plan to surround the tunnel and with some 6ft tall deer fence will hopefully keep any deer out if the wander into the wood.The plan is once I grow something it can then be put outside to grow on and transplanted into the wood once its big enough and hopefully not be eaten.
Really need to read up on what I can plant within the wood to encourage more wildlife, but hopefully once I get a few things established it wont matter if they get the occasional nibble and in the long run might help me keep thing under control but for now I have to protect everything.
The weather has turned at bit colder and with no rain planned till later I had another job to fix a small leak in the main hide roof, its just a small drip but annoying all the same.
Looking through my shed at home I found some paint which stops leaks, its very thick and has some sort of fibre in it and would do nicely, so after I had done about six posts I turned my attention to the roof.
It just one small area but as I was on the roof I painted all the felt edging and and all the nails, which I think was the problem, one of the clout nails may have ripped a small hole in the felt, time will tell.
As I was leaving at 2.30 it has begin to rain so tomorrow I will know if it has worked.
