Going past Amberly on the way to the wood I came across a series of road kills one after another and seeing as it was quiet I span around and collected 7 dead pheasants and placed them in the back of my truck.
I was intended to put them out for the foxes or even badgers at the wood, a shame to waste them as they would only be run over again and again until they would eventually disappear.
Well, I thought I would leave one out each night but put two out the first night instead, one tethered where I had placed my trail camera to see what had taken it or tried to as it was tethered.
Looking through the camera the next day I could see a Buzzard feeding on the carcass so took the card home for a better look on the laptop.
Going through the card was amazing, throughout the day and night, it was first visited by a pair of Ravens, then the Buzzard several times, dusk and first light the next morning, and during the night a Fox and several visits from Badgers one which took one of the pheasants (untethered).
The trail cam images aren’t great but you can see what’s going on.
