I decided to make my drinking pools larger to get better reflection shots so I started on the one I call the Siskin hide.
This is it stripped down and you can see the pond liner I used to build it but at 5ft x 4ft, it just wasn’t big enough.

Old pool
Firstly I spent a day cutting planks with my chainsaw mill as this saves me money as I would have to buy planks in at least a tenner each.
Actual cost, my time plus a fiver for fuel for the chainsaw and £5 for the plastic and a few screws, so in total all less than £10.

I extended the old frame so now its around 8ft long x 5ft wide, giving more angle for reflections and bathing birds.

I have used hessian material to hide the plastic liner which should colour up as it takes on debris and plant material, eventually creating a living skin over the plastic and no VPL, visible pond liner.

Here it is with a few sandstone rocks and shingle for the birds to stand on.
It needs time to settle down and no doubt ill be tweaking with it until happy but quite pleased so far.
