Last Friday I had a visit from three guys from Essex, Derek Smith, Bernard Thomas & Peter.
All three were photographing from the Siskin hide when Bernard asked if he could try another hide, so I popped down and baited the area and Bernard left some 15 mins later giving the birds a bit of time to find the food.
I was with Derrick and Peter still in the Siskin hide, chatting when I saw a Sparrowhawk whiz through the trees and attack the birds gathering by the pond, they joked that the lucky B*****d had probably got it in from of him.
We waited 20 mins and I popped down to see if he had even seen it, let alone managed some shots, well shots he had.
Whilst we were joking the bird landed in front of him having missed its target then decided to have a bathe, unbelievable sequence of photos and I had to agree, Lucky B******D.
I see sparrowhawks nearly everyday now but to be in a hide when one strikes still eludes me, Steve Whitehead got one last week where it landed in front of him from the Siskin hide but struggled with his 500ml lens to get it in the frame but managed some great shots all the same.
Just received the photos today so putting them up all for all to enjoy, there not as sharp as the ones I received because I have to shrink the to below 200kb to keep the site loading fast but you can see the sequence of events.
Well done Bernard, right place at the right time my friend, see you all soon.
