CHOPPED WOOD READY FOR WINTER
I spent the day cutting then chopping wood as since I now have two log burners, one in the main hide and one in the new outdoor kitchen I thought I better get myself prepared for winter.
I started on one of my log piles near the polytunnel, which now has a new roof as the old one started to leak, nothing major but now it has become my log store till next spring, I thought I better fix it.
The plan is to use the polytunnel to dry the wood further as for when the sun shines its baking hot inside and my equivalent of kiln drying.
I turned two of my potting tables upside down and used these to stack the chopped wood, keeping the wood 2 inch of the ground.
Outside is a large pile already cut into 9inch lengths ready for chopping and tomorrow I have my 2 grandsons for the day and as I chop they can stack before we have bacon sandwiches and tea. ( cant beat child labour)
I can chop safely quite quickly so hopefully tomorrow I can chop enough for this season, fingers crossed anyway and if I start to run out better do it again sharpish.
