On Tuesday I went to Goldenhill nurseries in Kent to buy a load of bare root trees and got a nice selection of native trees & shrubs consisting of.
Guelder rose (Viburnum opulus), Wayfaring tree (Viburnum lantana), Wild Cherry (Prunus avium), Wild Plum (Prunus domestica, Bird cherry (Prunus padus), Wild privet (Ligustrum vulgare), Common Dogwood (Cornus sanguinea), Crab apple (Malus sylvestris), Beech (Fagus sylvatica), Purging buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica), Spindle tree (Euonymus europaeus).
All I could do Tuesday was unload the car and place them all in compost so they wont dry out and die, here is the poly tunnel with all the trees.
They dont look like much at the moment but as spring comes around they should all burst into life.
There is around 200 trees and these will probably take around 2 weeks to plant and protect from the rabbits etc, I made a start today Thursday and managed to plant 27 Dogwood and 9 Guelder rose and tomorrow I will protect them with chicken wire which I bought from ebay (2 x 50 mtr x 900ml high rolls for £42.00).
