On Thursday I had an attempt at identifying the growing number of wild flowers in the wood, I was advised earlier in the year by a neighbour to wait and see what was growing before I introduced anything, wise words.
My attempted to grow some has failed miserably, with only the borage growing, which now in hindsight is better as I can collect seeds from the original stock and disperse myself.
Pleasantly I have new thing pushing up every week and as I get to grips which their names I will photograph them and add them to my list.
So far I have managed to identify a few and if I get any wrong please let me know as its not easy, I am comparing photos on the web and in books to try and get a match and sometimes the same species look different.
Anyway here what I have found so far.(I think,correct me if I am wrong)
Yellow pimpernel,Ramsons (wild garlic), Red campion, which look like they have little faces, Common dog violet, Bugle and good old Bluebells.
I have loads of foxgloves but they are not ready to flower yet and several thistle type plants and a few grasses but I will photograph and try to name later.
