I saw the first young woodpecker last Saturday and now I have at least two with the parents franticly fighting over food to take back to the nest so there must be more to come.
Actually I think there are two nest sites as last year I had 8 young woodpeckers at the feeding station one evening, they usually have four from a clutch of 4 -6 eggs so more on their way.
The woodpeckers quibble all year round but more so at the moment and take away as much as they can carry.
Here are some photos were taken on Thursday showing the youngsters and the flying antics of the adults.
