With the weather being hot I decided to have the day off and try some afternoon / evening shots at the wood.
I arrived at 4.30 and set up 2 new posts in the reflection pool, baited them, then went for a walk for half hour looking at all the plant growth everywhere.
Great to have some sun but with my wood being clay on sandstone it dries out really quickly so some rain please.
The posts are around 3.5 metres from the hide shelf so I decided to use my 70-200ml lens to get the reflection in, I shot for around 2 1/2 hrs the packed up and went home.
Thoughts for next time.
My 70-200ml lens is good but I wish I could have used my 300ml as I gathers more light but with the hight of the posts it wouldn’t have been possible, next time make shorter posts so it changes the angle and maybe at bit further away.
Here is what I got in that time.

Hi John, was wondering how you got on, the photos look great, it must have been very calm indeed.
I’ll post my photos next week, thanks for your time on Wednesday.
Hi Bob , actually a bit breezy and by the time it calmed down i was loosing the light.
I shot them with my 70 – 200ml lens at around 130ml with a bit of fill flash.
Quite happy as I haven’t used this hide in a while.
Nice to see you again and hopefully see you again soon.
