Today I finally caught up with the female kingfisher which has been checking out my tiny pond for the last few months, I haven’t seen her for a couple of weeks, not saying she hasn’t been in but just not seen her myself.
Today has been the coldest morning in months and with a heavy frost on the car and ground frost around the wood, maybe this has affected her feeding elsewhere and she just decided to come and check out my pond.
I had two guys in the pond hide Alan and John who were surprised to see the kingfisher, she didn’t stay long and headed back out the back so I quickly grabbed my camera out of the car and joined them.
Here are a few from the morning, some with frost on the branch as it was just above zero and some in a better light as the sun rose.
