Yesterday I had the morning in one of my hides just to see what’s about and got to see the first of hopefully a few young woodpeckers.
The parents are still very busy taking food back to their nest so hopefully will be more soon.
Jays are also coming in to gather food and by the way, they are cropping it in their necks must be feeding young at the nest.
I managed some pleasing shots of them yesterday by baiting a post and using my remote trigger to fire when they landed, they are still very nervous and any slight movent has them melting back into the wood.
The hides are now open from Monday on a trial basis, if all goes well and it’s safe to do so I will carry on but with social distancing in place.
Only people coming on their own or groups coming together for now and meeting me at the wood for 9 am. (the track is bumpy but safe to drive but not suitable for low sports cars)
It’s not really busy as it the breeding season but still, plenty to photograph with young birds appearing daily and dragonflies down by the pond are worth a look.
Here are a few from yesterday the 30th of May.
