KINGFISHER UPDATE
Just a little disclaimer before I get going, I don’t have a Kingfisher hide but a woodland hide with a small pond where if we are lucky a kingfisher or two make visits, I don’t want anyone to be disappointed if we get a no show, which doesn’t happen often but with all wildlife, nothing is guaranteed, now that’s out of the way ill tell you more what’s happening.
Some days one may visit from the start and stay on and off all day till we leave and other times only come in the afternoon but generally get a few visits each day.
Last year I made a platform with an interchangeable post which I placed in the pond allowing me to step out and change the perch.
I use my 500 ml lens for portraits and my 300 ml lens if ever there is ever two around as the 500 doesn’t give enough field of view.
This is what I captured in a couple of sessions, one session with the pair was only an hour or so as I ran to the car and grabbed my gear, and joined them in the hide for the last session. first time I’ve photographed two together, seen it several times but have not had the camera out.
I spend most of my time this time of year cutting back the vegetation so don’t get much time in the hides as people think.
On Thursday I witnessed some unusual activity from the pair, which I believe is mum and son, and made a short video, anyone seen this behavior before?
