On Saturday (1.10.22) I popped over to see the Red-backed shrike that has set up residence near the car park at Medmerry RSPB site in West Sussex.
When I arrived I had been informed it was still there, always a bonus on any twitch, and had it in the bins just along the road in a bramble bush in no time.
I moved along the road to get the sun behind me and made the most of the harsh midday light and followed the Shrike as it hunted from various perches back towards the car park.
I stayed with the bird for an hour or so and got some nice images. Photographers came and went and all went away with hopefully good pictures of this very confiding superstar.
It’s a young bird, 1st winter, and born this year probably in Scandinavia and making its way to Africa to spend the winter.
Shot with my new Z9 and 500 f4, on a tripod and mostly around 2000 sec, f5.6 as it was very windy.
Just a few from the short session and thanks for looking, comments welcome.
