Reports of a Squacco heron coming from the internet persuaded me to have a look, its been around for weeks apparently seen by early morning dog walkers, one described it as a Barn owl coloured heron.
Well usually when I go to a twitch, which I haven’t since having my commitment to my wood I usually turn up and then wait hours for a glimpse or worst still missed it by hours, well this afternoon was a bit different, I knew roughly where it was and thought no pressure just see if you can find it.
I wasn’t where I first thought so wandered around until I spotted a couple watching it through a hedge and joined them for a look.
It was a good 100 meters away so some big crops even with my 500ml lens.
Great to see a UK and Sussex first for me so worth going and as I write this is still there.
Anyhow here’s what I captured, no great shots as the distance was too great and a howling wind didnthelp but here is a few from the hour I was there.
