TAWNY OWL UPDATE
I spent Monday night up the wood to see what’s happening with regards to owl activity. I put out a couple of mice on posts and got comfortable, could be a long wait or even a no show.
Just after dark, I saw an owl fly in and sit in one of the pine trees before finally flying down to grab the mouse, an hour later it came back in for the other one.
In total, I had4 visits in four hours so not quite busy enough to start running the owl workshops but once they start nesting and sitting on eggs things will get a lot busier as the male will feed the female so watch this space as they say.
They also have a nice new nestbox in which to set up home from the Barn owl trust, I bought the eco box made from recycled plastic which they recon will last 20 years, time will tell.
Anyway back to the photography, I set up the flashes and L.E.D light and using my Nikon Z6 and 300 ml lens, setting where 100 sec, F6.3 and iso 400 with the post being 12 meters away.
Here are some from the session.
