I was at the wood early this morning and whilst setting up for my quests I heard the distinct piping call of a Kingfisher, my camera was in the truck so quickly grabbed it and crept into the pond hide.
Luckily it was still sat there and I sneaked my camera under the netting and grabbed a few shots, very little light in there a 7.30 am but I managed some shots at high iso and could have done with my 500ml lens but hey, not complaining and could be the start of daily visits.
Here is what I managed before she flew off, females have orange on their lower mandibles and could be the same bird as last year that paid us a few visits.

Wow John,
Millers Wood has come on leaps and bounds since my early visits to your hides. Cannot remember when that was??? Great to see Kingfisher visiting. Noted on the Badgers coming in as well.
Well done on making a difference, your dedication looks like its paying off and more. Keep up the fabulous work, may pay a visit again even if its just to have a cuppa and a natter!!
Best wishes,
Russell
Thanks, Russel, i appreiciate it, its a lot of work but worth it.
Your place is amazing and can’t wait to come back. Glad the kingfisher has been back think I was one of the first to see her last year.
